Four counties, including Yanhe, Shiqian, Hezhang and Congjiang in Southwest China's Guizhou province, signed an agreement with six internet enterprises involving poverty alleviation at the fifth World Internet Conference held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province, on Nov 8.

The signing ceremony, which aims to accelerate poverty alleviation in rural areas, was launched by the Cyberspace Administration of China and the China Internet Development Foundation. The agreement gave online and offline support, including the construction of a production base, intensive processing of agricultural products, e-commerce sales, education, training, and employment.

Zhang Guomin, deputy head of Shiqian county, said that local agricultural products were expected to be promoted throughout China with the help of Chinese online discounter Pinduoduo and the Shanhai-based Nengcheng Group.

"Walnuts, Cola pigs, and chives from Hezhang are well known across China. Our distinct agricultural products sell well in Hangzhou, the Pearl River Delta region, and Hong Kong," said An Ling, head of the Hezhang publicity department. "The agreement with Meicai (an online fresh food platform) is helping the county enter the e-commerce network."

Song Xuanwen, deputy Party secretary of Yanhe county, expected strong cooperation on education with leading online Chinese education company Zuoyebang, as well as 58 Daojia, an agency providing a range of life services. "More and more impoverished children have access to high-quality educational resources," he said.
